We are Remembered on Earth for the Things We Leave Behind

So the Obscure Biblical Character is.... Jair!
Judges 10:3-5
After him arose Jair, a Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty-two years. Now he had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys; they also had thirty towns, which are called “Havoth Jair” to this day, which are in the land of Gilead. And Jair died and was buried in Camon.

So what does the Bible say about Jair?
1. judged Israel 22 years
2. had thirty sons who each had his own donkey and town

That isn't much, compared to the books that are written about other men in the Old Testament (Moses, David...) But it was obviously important that he had 30 sons who each had his own donkey and town.

I'm guessing that these two things were status symbols back then. (Response Question: Yesterday they had donkeys and towns as their status symbols. Today, the equivalent is:____ and ______.)

The things that lasted after Jair died mean the most to us. He led Israel for a really long time, and he had thirty sons. That's a lot of sons. What Jair left behind means something to us.

-is the high priest of Jerusalem
-ordered Peter and John not to preach the gospel
-acted with a group of rulers, elders and scribes
