Jesus' Slave?

So we're going to have a little change of plans. Instead of having Obscure Biblical Character, we're going to have a regular Bible Study, and tomorrow (Friday) we're going to do encouragement night instead of the Bible Study, and we're not going to do anything on Sunday.

So Today's Bible Study:
Romans 1:1 NKJV
Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God

Bondservant, slave, servant... all the same basic thing. Some people might think "Jesus' slave... uh oh. I want nothing to do with that". But that isn't what this is talking about.

All this verse says is that Paul serves and does the bidding of Jesus. We say we want to 'serve' God. I sign off these things 'In His Service'. In reality, all of these words are related to the word 'servant'.

We, like Paul, are servants of Jesus Christ. That doesn't mean we cook food for Him, or clean His house, it means that we do His will. Things like telling others about Him, or loving people because He loves them. These are the things that a servant of Jesus does.

Each of His servants has a different job. Paul's was to be an apostle, which he was called to do. No job is more important than another.

In His Service,
Joyce
