No Prejudice

1 Timothy 5:21-22
I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.

This just so happened to be the random chapter for today. Isn't God amazing? What good timing: it's Martin Luther King Day!

There are two parts to this chapter that we should touch on, so the other one is going to be a Bible Study later on.

'These things' that Paul talks about are how to treat elders. He says to treat them equally, and not giving one special treatment. He says not to jump to conclusions or sin with others, but keep yourself pure.

God doesn't want us to be prejudiced, because He isn't prejudiced. When we get to heaven, there won't be separate water fountains for each race of people. He's not going to have the 'ghetto' section. Everyone gets the same things in Heaven. May it be on Earth as it is in Heaven. Thank God for the strides we've already made toward equality in His name.

"We must keep God in the forefront. Let us be Christian in all our actions." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Do you think prejudice is still an issue? If yes, what can we, as Christians, do about it?

As an un-Bible-related note, do you have a favorite Martin Luther King quote?

As another un-Bible-related note, do you have any encouraging Haiti stories like the one I shared with you, that you would like to share?

sadly, it is still an issue. not just here, but even worse in other parts of the world. What we can do is live the lives God calls us to. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

My favorite MLK line is "Free at last, Free at last, thank God Almighty I'm free at last". He was actually quoting a line from, as he said, "That old Negro spirtual"... a Hymn.

Mine is:
"I may not get there with you, but I want you to know that tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land."
He said this the night before he was assassined.
