Romans 1:17 NLT
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
"Good News" is the definition of Gospel, meaning the story of Jesus Christ (death and resurrection). His life tells us how God made us right in His sight. All of this is accomplished by faith (but we'll get to that on Sunday).
"As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life." NLT
as it is written, The just shall live by faith. KJV
as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith." ESV
I love www.biblegateway.com. I don't think my family even owns some of those versions.
So this last little line is worded a few different ways. 'Just' and 'Righteous' mean basically the same thing. You know that verse (or maybe it's a song or something, because I can't ever find it) about how we only have life through Christ? This is the same basic thing. Except here, Paul says that by faith, a righteous person has life.
The different Bibles say it different ways, but the same meaning, which is God's truth, stays the same: for a righteous and just person to live, they need faith.

Do you think that the last line about righteous people needing faith to live is just a bit of advice for us to make life easier? Or could it be that it's necessary, like a person can't live righteously without faith?
(Romans 1:17)
