All Things are Lawful

1 Corinthians 6:12
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

In some Bibles that have headings over passages, this is under the heading of 'sexual immorality' or something related to that. Now, the Bible is the inerrant word of God. That doesn't necessarily mean that the headings are the inerrant word of God.

So, just because there isn't a specific rule or law against it, does that mean we can do it? NO! Of course not! Just because something is allowed doesn't mean it's good for us!

The second part: Just because something is 'a-okay' in God's Book doesn't mean it can't take over our lives and enslave us. There are many things (facebook, movies, books, music...) that can take over our lives, even though they are great things when in moderation. (Speaking of which, one more week of Lent!)

We need to consider not only if something is a sin before we do it, but also if it is beneficial to everyone involved. Then, we have to make sure that it doesn't enslave us.
